Okay. I admit it. I have not read any of the Twilight books. I don’t know crap about them. I am among the ignorant. My teenager loves them. I have adult friends that have seen the movies and have watched them a hundred times. I write paranormal stories and I don’t want to be influenced by the Twilight craze. I’m sure one day I will read them all.

I do, however, have an inkling of what they are about from all the trailers and hype in the air. A Mark Henry Tweet lead me to this SNL skit. His comment was something along the lines of “OMFG… you meant I have to wait to see this??” And I agree.

I HEART Mark Henry for pointing me to these videos…. And I HEART his books from the video blog Eliza posted last week. So Eliza--It worked. I loved it, I loved him and I went and bought all his books.

Trailer Trash Talkin’: Eileen Wilks Night Season

I really like this video. The photos of the horizon are amazing. I think I like it because it lays the groundwork for the book without spoilers or cutesy effects. The visuals are sharp, colorful, and interesting. The voice-over is nice, too, not overdone. I love the font, it's unusual but easy to read.

I like that she introduces us to our protagonists and the conflict, and even to what appears to be a rather complicated world she's created, in quick easy soundbites. The trailer gives us just enough to interest us, but not too much so we feel like we don't need to read the book.

I think my favorite thing about it is the effect near the end with the picture frame. Inside the frame are flashing pictures, which underscore the voice-over about the rising action and conflict. It's a nice dual effect that makes you go wow, I want this book! And that's what a trailer's about really.

The one thing I might change is showing faces for the main characters, but that's one of my issues, not just in trailers but on book covers. I like to leave the faces, the details, to the readers when possible. It gives a reader more of a sense of ownership in the story when they can picture the main characters as they see them, rather than how the author or illustrator/photographer/videographer imagines them.

I'm not technical at all, so don't expect my Tuesday video blog to be long and detailed about the technical effects. I just like what I like, and I tell you about it, lol. I haven't read this book, or anything else by this author, but this video makes me want to check her out. And I will. So kudos on a well-done trailer.

Trailer Park Tuesday!

Woohoo it's Trailer Park Tuesday and have I got some goodies for you. No we aren't going to be trashing book trailers, we actually like them a lot. But nobody said we had to be politically correct and the phrase "Trailer Trash" makes us laugh.

Each week one of us will pick out a favorite book video and highlight it here on the blog. Too bad i'm already planning to cheat on my first time out. lol I have two. I can't help it I couldn't decide. They are both great and completely opposite of each other.

I actually spend a little time making book videos myself, not to mention i'm a totally shameless promo hussy, so resisting the urge to post one I created was not an easy thing. lol

Anyways...On to the show.
